Baby *E*

I frantically searched for her...the woman with the newborn.  I saw their family in the parking lot heading towards their vehicle and I ran out like a crazy lady and presented her my card.

I sometimes feel awkward when presenting myself as a photographer to people.  I don't want to seem salesman-ish...but at the same time, if I could have had the opportunity to get pictures done of my newborn this way, I would have not have wasted the money at the studio with my babies.  In fact, I'm so excited that my photographer friends and family, and me and my family are going to do a trade shoot.  We are hanging around town to some pretty sweet spots and are going to have fun with the cameras.  I can't wait to see my family the way we are...interacting with each other.  No cheese, no poses, just sincere love showing through.

I love connecting with my families.  I feel that only when you know someone can you tell their story.  I have been given a pretty outgoing personality so I feel that photography and me were meant for each other.  I love meeting new people and thankfully on all my sessions people have opened up to me...I feel blessed to have earned a trust like this.

I just want to thank all of my clients for the fun times!  Here's a bit of the sweet baby I followed out the door ;)

A Shout out to the Anderson's

The trip was exciting...my husband, a little car trip, my camera, and the best part...a sweet family awaiting my arrival.  I was greeted by a tall man with go-tee complimented by a soul patch.  He had a warm smile and was soon followed by a beautiful woman whose heart I knew matched the warmth of his smile.

What an amazing family!  My husband would days later tell me that it was the best time he'd had in too long.  We had so much fun capturing the beauty of the relationship of these folks...

They hailed from Illinois and came here for ministry.  They now bless the youth of Augusta and I'm sure every person they meet.  I also got to hang out with "Grandpa and Grandma."  What a great reward to see your children grow into a family that is serving their true purpose.  It brings me joy to see the heritage that you are leaving for your kids and your grand baby.

Thank you so much for giving us the privilege of capturing the sincere devotion you have for each other.  Thank you for welcoming us into your lives...it was truly an honor...I hope you had as much fun as I did...

So, 7 sneak peaks times 2 shooters equals 14 right?  Well, I added 1 for fun...enjoy :)

Caught in Action

Yesterday I had the opportunity to shoot a family in Augusta.  I wanted to let Dave in on the deal if he wanted....I am trying to get into the wedding industry and Dave would be my ideal second shooter.  He has a different eye than me.  I look at his images and I "wow".  So, he jumped at it but we had one little dilema...one camera, two shooters.  My friend had offered us to use her camera, which was awesome because it's the same as ours...she just got it as a birthday gift and they (meaning her hubby and her) LOVE it.  Dave is used to it and she even went further and offered to watch our kids.  You are AWESOME Dave and Ann!  Thank you so much! The weather looked a bit iffy and I actually missed the call from my client to reschedule...which turned out to be a good thing because the weather was beautiful!  A little chilly but I run around everywhere when I shoot so it felt nice :)

Since I never have another shooter with me, I've never been at risk of having a picture taken of me...taking a picture.  So Dave surprised me mid session with a couple shots...I also snuck one of him.  Isn't he so cute behind a camera?  I just LOVED having him with me.  He had some great ideas and it was just so much fun doing what I love with my love.

Come back to see this beautiful family's sneak peaks :)

Here's Dave, doing some on the side stuff while I had just reloaded another Flash card...

Apparently, Dave said that I would make a pretty good sniper. He said I laid prone the right way naturally...coming from a Cert. Sniper...I take that as a compliment....I can be really sneaky "shooting" people...hahaha I'm such a dork!

This shot I was taking of the family turned out so cute BUT I about fell off the bench onto Grandma taking it...

Happy Labor Day!

I always have wondered why they call it labor day when most businesses are closed...nobody is really doing any labor.  Shouldn't it be non-labor day?  Well, you know me, I can't take a holiday or take a rest either.  I have been painting trim and doing laundry on my holiday.  Hopefully I can veg out tonight though.  I wanted to show everyone my office.  I LOVE it!  I feel like I can edit without a cluttered mind.  It's like if my work space is cluttered then my work is cluttered.  Does anybody else feel that way?  I was on this huge organizing and "getting rid of clutter" kick not too long ago.  And though I don't agree with the New Age religion, this site, Zen Habits, helped me SO much to get rid of clutter and learn to be organized and stay organized.  You know what the best part about it is...it's NOT overwhelming!!!  So, check it out if you have a serious clutter issue like I do.

I have NO idea where my compact flash that had the before pictures of the office on them.  I am so disappointed.  I love giving before and after shots.  WAHHHH!  I will have to ask Dave when he gets home if he knows where it is.  Probably lost in all the clutter that got transferred from my office into the dining and living room.  OK...that's it.  I am going to get on that site as soon as I'm done posting this...enjoy the after pictures anyway... *disclaimer - I didn't edit these but in RAW*

Looking into the office...

This old desk I picked up about a month ago in some old man's yard for 3 dollars :)

I loved this desk because it was SO rusty! I wanted to keep the top covered in rust because it was a beautiful color but I didn't want to get tetanus while editing my photos. So I had Dave measure the desk and had Central Glass and Paint cut me a piece. It looks SO cool now. The glass was one hundred bucks so it only cost me 103 dollars for a one of a kind piece!

(Isn't the rain on the window so romantic?)

I love my Apple!

When I was in Florida visiting my parents, my mamma took me to all these amazing antique stores. I bought the antique paper weight and the frog (for flowers back in the day - but now for my pens and pencils) for some purpose in the future. They go perfect now with my vintage desk...

I use these old green filing things to organize my booked clients and my print orders..I think I got these several years ago...

Didn't Dave do an incredible job on the crown moulding? Way to go honey!

Colton

I feel like I have been sitting in my beautiful office ALL day.  I just need to show you all how beautiful is really is.  My mamma requested that I take some pictures.  I have been editing so many sessions that I haven't really had time to take any  new pictures.  I have just changed my workflow for my business so I'm anticipating being able to get more stuff done.  Everyone has been so patient with me...Thanks a million.

So, I was able to hang out with a really cool dude a couple days ago.  Colton is taking a college mechanics course and LOVES working on cars.  It was so funny because the place that I took him to made him kind of distracted....looking at all the old engines and stuff.  I especially loved his long board....

Jared

When my husband is looking over my shoulder telling me, "I'm impressed...it looks like you were taking pictures for a CD cover or something...tell him not to cut his hair." You know the session went well.

Jared was SO MUCH FUN to hang out with! He was comfortable in front of my camera and was up for ANYTHING!!! Awesome shoes, awesome everything...I love it when my clients trust my craziness...I was also impressed with the ideas that he had...a couple of which are on this post :)

Dude, you crack me up...I especially love the song I hear when I'm giving you a call for the session..."I can ride my bike with no handle bars?" or something like that. HA! So funny.

Thanks for the fun times!!!
